Epinions On Shaving

Epinions has a great thread on how to choose a hair remover. It is a collection of reviews of shaving tools that mostly do not work as advertised. If you want to know what not to use read "How To Choose A Hair Remover".

Instead of using the poorly reviewed tools on Epinions try The Ultimate Shaving Kit or The Bikini Shaving Solution. We've never received even one bad review!

Dr. Damery On Shaving Myths

On our Hair Care Down There site Greg Damery, MD, FACOG answers questions about shaving. This question is one we get all the time:

Q: Is it true if I shave that it will cause my hairs to become thicker and darker when they regrow? Mary Anne, FL

A: Actually, this is NOT true, although I hear this comment in the office all the time. It is a widespread MYTH that shaving causes a darkening and thickening of hair.

The part of the hair that protrudes out of our skin is called the hair shaft. The part that penetrates the skin layer and is contained within the follicle is called the hair root. The deepest part of the hair is the hair bulb or matrix. It is in the matrix where the hair growth takes place. The hair itself is made up of several layers that are applied as the hair grows outward.

If hair is shaven then the shaft of the cut hair is trimmed off at the skin level. This doesn't affect the growth of the hair, which is occurring at the base of the hair in the matrix. Usually within a day or two the cut shaft will once again protrude from the skin, with its same diameter and color. The cut surface will be sharper than before due to the recent cut. To avoid skin irritation, try using Hair Care Down There products. We've tested them in our office and they work.

Forum Thread On Shaving The "Naughty Bits"

The handbag forum has a hot discussion going on about "Shaving lady bits - regrowth and stubble help". There are dozens of suggestions for the poster but none of them mention Hair Care Down There. You may find conditioner will help soften hair or some say deoderant should be used after shaving! I think the real point here is that you should use products made for the pubic hair and skin. Pubic area skin is so much thinner than skin on the rest of the body and you don't want to rub in a bunch of chemicals "down there". Use products made specifically for pubic hair and you won't have ingrown hair, razor rash or other problems after shaving.

Funny Scene From Weeds Season 3

Weeds is a dark comedy about a suburban mother who turns to drug dealing after her husband dies and leaves her and the kids destitute. There are many funny scenes I could recount but my favorite is a "pubic hair" scene from season 3. The brother-in-law of the drug dealing mother is staying with her while trying to get his life together. He is a fantastic cook and gets referred to a movie company shooting a film in a nearby house. Turns out the film is a porno movie but the dear man does his best to concentrate and create a great craft table for the crew. During a break two lovely naked ladies approach and the brother-in-law stops them. He says "Don't come closer to the food. The public health department will shut us down if they find even one pubic hair in the food." Then he pauses and looks down... He'd forgotten that porno films mostly require the actresses to be clean shaven. He gestures to the women to approach and starts fixing them a plate of food. The scene goes on later with his spicy food upsetting the stomach of the star and filming has to halt for the day!

It's a great show to watch and full seasons are available on the internet.

What Is A Merkin?

A merkin is a pubic hair wig first worn by prostitutes (in 1699) who shaved their pubic hair to prevent lice infestations. However, it shortly became popular for the upper class women to shave and wear a merkin.

Merkins are also used in film production to prevent flashing of the genitals during scenes where the actors are naked. An enterprising young woman in the Netherlands has created a line of merkins for men and women. You can see them at http://www.pubictoupees.com/

If you don't want to go to the expense or trouble of wearing a merkin then consider using stencils to create a beautiful design with your pubic hair. Your partner will be thrilled and you don't have to go totally bald if you don't want to.

You can get stencils and other pubic hair grooming products at Hair Care Down There.
